See, I knew you were a class act, Doom. At least when you're talking about shaving your balls.

| 103.... All should pause and remember Sigismund. He will be missed. I remember him and Doom first helping me learn the game on Alpha. Was a great help. :::Raising glass::: to Sigismund!! | |

Is AE running slow as shit for anyone else today? Both Alpha and Epsilon are barely chugging along.

You know, since I quit the Camarilla, I've found myself with far, far too much free time.

This has given me some time to work on some gaming material I've been meaning to update for a while.

I've written a game setting for D&D. I'm taking my extra time and updating it, mapping, incorporating artwork that I've accumulated over the years, etc. It's been a pretty successful world for me to run games in.

3.5. I've been running an ongoing game for that system for a while. We've got most of the books for it. Figured why spend money on 4.0 when, having looked it over, we all thought it looked kind of dumbed down?
It's a good setting. Let me know and I'll send you a copy. It's a work in process, however.

Sure! I mostly play Living Forgotten Realms now, but I'm trying to get a 3.5 crew together. 4E is nice and simple, almost more miniature combat than RPG, but as a long-time wizard player the new magic system offends me.

I didn't even get as far as the magic. I saw the alignment changes and decided it was too dumb for words. What'd they do to magic?

Basically, every class gets sets of abilities, some are "at-will" some are "once per encounter" and some are "daily"
For example, fighters get cleave as an at-will attack ability, wizards get magic missile...
Then, for your stuff like Knock, Magic Mouth, etc, they have a "ritual" system, and they are long and expensive (Knock has a 10 min casting time). And there's, maybe three dozen of them. Major nerf on magey stuff.

Knock has a 10 minute cast time? wtf
I'm glad I didn't bother reading further, that sounds lame.

4E has his strong points compared to 3.5 but the wizardry department sure has suffered. It should get better with the arcane powers add on book. that's the second mayor downside, i already grew tired with all the core classes since 4e came out and i haven't even played more then 1 character. 4E relies to heavily on supplemental books.
The upside of 4E is the playability on low levels compared to 3.5. you don't earn some levels before things start getting interesting. The books are better especially building encounters (combat and non-combat) and the monsters are easier to manage. I personally like the change in the skill system but i can imagine if people are heavily against it.
all and all i like it but i think it's an entirely new game witch happens to have a lot of similarities in setting with 3.5. I just wished i'd still have a 3.5 campaign...

Ah, well, I've still got an outside shot at PhD potential, and I could think of many, many worse jobs than teaching college, so I'm putting up with it.

| 124 You can?? I can't. I thought about becoming a teacher for a while, but the truth is I can't stand kids. lol Even high schoolers are idiots. And I like college-age girls way too much to be successful as an instructor at that level. | |

Ah, well, that would kind of stymie that. Last thing you need is a relationship with some hot co-ed in your class.
